Mirrors Fold When Car Locked

Is there a way to make the power-folding door mirrors fold when you lock the car?

On my last car (Peugeot 407) this happened automatically. I found this very useful in car-parks etc.

I was very impressed with the little dance you have to do to turn the set-belt warning sound off posted by ndsblack, and was hoping there were other features you could activate/deactivate in a similar manor.

Thanks for pointing that out for me.

I'm not sure if I want it that bad! I was hoping it was just a setting that needed to be set.

I think I'll just get used to pressing the button before I take the key out!

Hi, I was looking for same thing - how to have my Avensis auto-fold the mirrors. Sad to see there's no software fix.
But you mentioned seatbelt warning sound and this is something that's driving me also crazy (among other beeps). I didn't find the post by ndsblack, could you maybe point me to it?

OH, just noticed the post was from 2015... I have Avensis 2018 😛
Can you turn off any off the annoying beeps in later Avensis'? I can't even listen to radio with engine off and driver's door open. It's summer! FFS Toyota.. Why?

I can only tell what I did to my passenger seat warning sound.

Under the seat, from front of the car, there are few wires(plugs), my vehicle has 3 of those. What I did, was disconnected the middle plug completely and now passenger seat belt warning does not come on, this is because how the detection is wired. Basically when you disconnect the plug, car thinks that seatbelt is always fastened.

Just to clarify, car seat heating still works.

Beleave you can disable the driver side as well, but personally I did not try this, so don't know if it will work as well.

Heard, that you can disable this warning using scan tool as well, but I do not have it, and cannot guarantee it will work, but read a while a go, that inside the vehicle settings, that only scan tool can access, you can configure few settings, including seat belt warning.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm not that far in my desperation yet but good to know there's this option.. I wonder if the connector is under the seat then maybe disconnecting it turns off the weight detector in the seat. Which could mean airbags are also off now on that side?

Just under the seat. Today checked 1 more time, there are seperate connections for everything, so if you turn off the seat warning, everything else will work, including airbag, because:

  • car thinks that someone is sitting on it and the seat strap is engaged
  • airbag connection is sepperate (think it was yellow wires for airbag)
