Looking into an Aygo. From what I can see, there is no diesel version - oh well!

It also looks like this is sold as a city car. I would be using it for general country wide driving, but not much in the city. How is it for such driving?

Boot capacity, while small, looks to be sufficient for 2 carry-on luggage sized bags. Do all the Aygo's come with a rigid parcel shelf so that items in the boot are not visible?

There was a diesel version of the Aygo, which used the PSA 1.4 diesel engine. However, its time on the UK market was relatively short as it was more expensive to buy than the petrol version and didn't offer much greater economy.

The Aygo/Citroen C1/Peugeot 107 are made by a Joint Venture between Toyota and PSA in the Czech Republic, and all three cars are marketed as a city car - being smaller in size than the equivalent Yaris/C3/208.

I drive my Aygo 15 miles to work on motorway and its absolutely fine, but definetley recommend getting the brand new model Aygo (I've got a mk 1 aygo) as they've improved it drastically. The 1 litre petrol engine is not that thirsty even though its not a diesel.

I have to say I love the new Aygo even more than the older versions, the boot is usefully bigger, and the front seats are more adjustable/comfortable for longer journeys, but is isn’t really a long-distance tourer!

Having said that, last summer my family of four (two teenage daughters) packed a week’s worth of luggage (including wetsuits and two bodyboards!) and drove 1,000 miles to Brittany and back without complaints, and just a few weeks ago we did a 600 mile round trip in the new Aygo, again without complaints. The big benefit of using the Aygo is it hones your packing skills and it yields more than 60mpg :-)

One downside of the new versions front-seat upgrade and deeper boot is that there’s a smidgen less rear-seat space. The new shape also has significantly less cubby storage than the old model, so it’s difficult to keep all those long-journey essentials close to hand!

I drive mine on motorways, A roads, B roads, country lanes, city streets, everywhere. It's a great little car. Marketing people invent categories to make us buy different cars, but this certainly isn't a 'city-only car'.
