Howdy again,

Thought I would seek out some opinions here - I am looking at buying a second car due to moving house for work etc. I am debating between either a Corolla T Sport or a Celica T Sport. Are there any common issues I should be aware of to keep an eye out for? I am fairly mechanically minded, built a good few cars myself so am happy around mechanics. I know each model of any car regardless of their marque has their own little problems, but am curious as to the main ones I should look out for.

The wife wants the corolla, as it has 5 seats, so the kids can go in it if the family car gives a problem (It hasnt put a foot wrong in 100k so I dont think it will now, but either way, I guess she does have a point), however, I have always loved the Celica so I am torn between the two as the kids are still young and small enough to fit in the back seats.

Is the VVTi engine chain or belt driven?

I would have loved an MR2 - always liked the mk1's, but the boss has put her foot down on that so a celica is the next best thing. I have always used Japanese cars, I couldnt find anything from Honda that I liked within my limited price range of only a few thousand (type r's have all been ragged to destruction), or anything from Mazda, but I want something with a little bit of fun behind it.

So, any issues with the t sport corollas or celicas I should keep an eye out for when searching around?
