Hi PPL

I am in the process of taking of the plastic suround on my steering column and noticed a small button on the top that you can push on or off. I have not got my manual with me so I cant read up on it.

So I thought I would ask then next best thing. :group-cuddles:

Can anyone advise me as to what it may do., or be for???

And no funny replies this time

Thanks Guys

Ash.

Have you tried pressing the button with the engine running? And what colour is it?

Some cars have the switch for the hazard warning lamps on top of the steering column, but this would be a guess as I don't have the same car as you.

when you get in the car and turn the key does the sterring column adjust to suit your needs?

if it does then this button stops the steering column adjusting automatically

That is the reason as to why I am taking of the plastic cover, at the moment I am trying to lower the steering wheel with the leavers at the side , I can pull the column in and out but not up or down.

Have just tried it with the engine on, and the button on and off, nothing happening, so I was taking the plastic off to have a closer look, but the screws are in way to tight. :ffs: :ffs:

Well I got the screws out, took the plastic cover of and I have no idea what I am doing, looked at the mechanical bit that should higher and lower the steering wheel, somthing is jammed cant un-jam it, got angry with it and started bashing it, still bloody jammed, :ffs: now I am very stressed, put placcy cover back on and I am now left with two screws left over  :ffs: .

But at least I can still steer her

hit it and bash it hard.

I hate it when you finish putting something together but you're left with bits you didn't have to start with.

Happens to me all the time. As long as the thing works... hey... it's all good.
