Cd Adapter For Tape Deck

Hi All,

In my old Escort I used a goodmans cassette adapter to connect my cd player (goodmans discman) to the tape deck. (the little tape that allows the cd fleed to be played through the standard radio.

However it doesn't appear to work in the Yaris. I have tried it in the 01 Yaris model and the 03 Yaris model. It plays for a few seconds and then makes a clucking noise.

The adapter still works fine in the an Suzuki Alto.

Is there some reason why cassette adapters don't work in Toyota radios? or Do I need a new adapter?.

Anybody got an adapter working in a Yaris?

Seeing as my next car will probably have a cd player I don't really want to invest in an aftermarket cd player.

Thanks,

Deirdre

The fact that it didn't work in the other Yaris made me supicous. (Mine is the 03)

I was always driving when I tried playing the cd with the adapter. I'll experiment again and see what happens. I'll try clening the heads also - I first tried the adapter when the car was 3 months old so I'd be surprised if it was the heads.

When it makes the noise the cd sound stops coming through the Speakers. The sound it makes sounds like a regular tape that has got stuck but is still trying to play. I haven't had any problems playing regular tapes - only the adapter.

Thanks,

Deirdre

a friend has had this prob too.

He went into Halfords to ask.

Not being technical i cant explain very well, but its got something with the tape player not liking the fact that the tape is not actually moving.

ok.. so the thing is that the sensors that usually sense the end of the cassette and reversing the "heads" thinks the tape is at its end and tried to change "sides"...

thats the noise ur hearing.. u need to loosen the whole mechanism inside that tape to let the wheels turn freely and not with their cogs... thats all..

I used to run my portable MD through the tape player. And only the left side Speakers would work. After a long look i found a fascia adaptor for a CD Hu, the rest is history!
