Another Rav4 T180 Cd Player Problem!

Hi All,

My CD player on the T180 keeps coming up Check disk when trying to read a CD. I ran a cleaner through the player and it started to partially plan CD's again. It would play up to track 3 or 4 and then stared skipping on everything after. I have tried to find a new laser pick up for the unit and thought I'd cracked after buying one from the US but its a different shape and won't fit so will have to go back.

Does anyone know of a seller where I can get a new pickup unit or get the unit repaired?. Another option would be to find one at a specialist Toyota breaker. Does anyone have any contact details for one?

Any help gratefully received.

There was a load on that well known auction site last month, I checked for the Sat Nav version for my rav just to get an idea of cost.

I would possibly look at breakers yards.

I had an issue with the CD player in my 2001 where the Temp and trip comp were working but no power to radio or CD.

Found a local breakers with a 2004 rav in their yard with the cd player still inside. Got it for £45 and works a treat.

Check the returns policy though as some breakers will not refund electrical stuff in case you blew it plugging it in.

Best to have your radio out and test the new one while your at the yard.

Hi all, here's an update on my attempt to get the CD working again.

I found a company in Taiwan who advertise new CD units for the B9004 audio system ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/CD-Mechanism-for-TOYOTA-ASIN-B9004-B9005-B9006-B9008-B9010-TNS-700-NISSAN-XANAVI-/291422832129 ) so went ahead and bought one. It arrived yesterday and so fitted it this afternoon (You have to re-solder the spindle motor wires onto the original board.) but still same problem Grrrrrr !!!. Disc goes in, machine reads disk and after 15 seconds comes up with Check CD. I have a new pickup lens that was bought from the US which i fitted and still the same problem. All the mechanism works so the only thing left is the board that powers the spindle drive receives the signal from the laser pick up.

Anybody have any good ideas of where i could find this piece?
