Low Ilde And Stalling After Fitting A New Battery!

I decided to give the 12.5 yo Battery a break and fit a new one.

New one fitted yesterday. Engine starting etc. All went well until today when I drone the car.

Once the engine warmed up the idle speed had dropped to 200~300 rpm almost to the point of stalling.

I don't think I accidentally disconnected or knocked anything off.

All I did was to remove the trim cover on the the top of the Battery. Disconnect the - the + terminals and connect them to a stand by Battery (so as not to loose my radio presets). Fitted the new battery, reconnected the cables and finally cranked the engine to ensure it would start.

SO I am confused as to what I did or what I didn't do!

Any help would be appreciated

As soon as I saw this I knew it was a petrol. Yes it does this for a day or two. Coming up to a junction can be a nightmare without blipping the throttle. The ecu relearns what to do after a bit of running. It's normal.

indeed you are right.

thanks for the info. Comforting. I will soldier on till all settles.

Wonder what they do at the garage when they change or disconnect the Battery without affecting the idle :bookworm:

UPDATE

Thankfully as pmb mentioned the idle is back to normal after a few days and 80 miles down the line
