Hatchback Boot Size And Cam Belt Or Chain

Hi, currently have a 1994 Corolla Liftback 1.6 for my dog walking business but thinking about going to see a 2001 Corolla 1.4 GS 1.4 hatchback.

From pictures, the boot space looks smaller, but would it be big enough to carry up to 3 medium sized dogs like my current one?

Also is it a cam belt or chain, as the current owner says a belt has never been changed because thinks it's a chain, but I want to make sure.

I have access to a 1998 Corolla brochure - which body-wise is the same, apart from the front, as the 2000-on Corolla. Boot capacity of the five door was 372 litres.
