Sorry to be a pain, but could someone please give me the following advice.

1998 Toyota RAV 4.1. 2L petrol manual.

I have read in the club topics that you can clean the MAFF sensor by spraying the Wires with a proper sensor cleaning spray, Can the same be done with the earlier MAP sensor.? Does the MAP sensor have the same wires or something similar?

I"m trying to improve the terrible MPG I seem to be getting, less than 20MPG and as of today I have had the Filters and Plugs changed. There is No leakage of petrol and the brakes are not binding and I do not drive the Rav at high Revs, but what I have noticed is that on starting from cold she does run very fast until warmed up and there is an ocassional smell of petrol. I spoke to a mechanic and he suggested checking the MAFF, but I believe that my model RAV has the older MAP sensor.

I had planned to sell the RAV to buy something more economical but that fell through and now I will keep it but would like better economy.

Any advice would be really appreciated

Thanks.

Happy Easter
