Please help

I am driving a toyota Rav 4 2007 with 65000 miles , the car was purchased from a reliable garage still under warranty ,

since i bough a few items there was lack of power when accelerating , not big deal , today i drove for 70 miles ,and after 15 miles it ahas started not to perform , i could barely overtake other cars.

I called AA, as i was thinking i could not make it to my destination , the guy told me that the ca does not show any problem when connected to the diagnostic machine , but said could be a fuel filter ?

if i stop the car , and restarting it it goes better , but slowly gets worse ....

Any help , very frustated please

Hi.

Just for the fact the AA man suggested changing the fuel filter i'd start with doing that as the fault you are describing could easily point to this being the problem.

Let us know how you get on.

Mike.

which engine? any warning lights?

If it's under warranty get the supplier to resolve the issue.

Hi Salvatore.

Exactly what is the warranty on the car, one from Toyoya or one of these firms that g'tee failed parts but not general wear and tear?

The warranty is offered from a volvo garage , and the engine is 24D diesel , i am not worried as the garage will cover what is has to be done , but frustated ,

as i i do not understand if a fuel filer an generate such a problem of no power?

No warning light at all , no smoke .

Hi Salvatore.

A partially blocked fuel filter can definatally cause a loss of power as it will not allow the fuel through therefore there is a good chance it won't smoke as there is little fuel getting to the engine to burn. If the Volvo garage is prepared to fix your car i'd advise just be polite and reasonable with them and simply ask them to 'fix it' this way it's up to them what they do. Don't concern yourself what the problem may be it's up to the garage to diagnose and repair. If they squirm away from mending it let us know so we can come up with suggestions. I have worked in garages both big and small and customers that came in with attitude go a lesser service than the nice ones so even if you are getting frustrated keep it all nice and hope you get them to mend your car.
