I Need Help Rav4 2.2 D4D 2007 Egr Valve

I can find reference to plenty of folk saying "clean the EGR valve" to solve your problems and "wow! what a difference" afterwards.

But is there a guide to doing it or pictures of at least where it is (2007 2.2 D4D engine)

what to use to clean the soot off also would be handy

Hi Will.

Carburettor cleaner is a good product to clear your EGR valve, it is just a spirit that cleans off carbon, gunge and stuff. There's lots of 'nasties' that come out of the valve when you clean it so get it off your hands as soon as you can.

If you go on You Tube and put in 'cleaning Toyota 2.2 EGR valve' there are many home made video's on how to do it.

Hi I have been absent from this forum for many months (working away) just to remind you Rav4 2.2 owners why don't you try blanking off the EGR valve, no more cleaning and runs better, I heard all the storys about why you should not, but I served my time as a fule injection engineer for CAV, so don't go there, just try it, if you don't like the results like less smoke etc, etc,etc, revert back, plenty of posts to search for to find out how to do it....

I have cleaned this up now so finger crossed no more fault codes.........

incidentally does anyone know the run out for front brake discs for rav d4d. changed the brakes last june and now there is a judder.

I have cleaned the valve cleared the codes and it is running good onto the next jobs....
