Carina Jumps From 700 To 1300rpm

My 3S-FE engine won't run between 700 and 1300 rpm. After it hits 700 it suddenly makes a jump up to 1300 rpm. Above 1300 rpm it runs perfect again. This is very annoying, especially when driving in town. I've checked sparkplugs, cables and filters. Can't seem to find any vacuum leaks either. What else is there to check?

700 rpm is a bit on the low side isn't it? The ECU is probably getting desparate to prevent a stall at 700rpm. What happens if you keep the rpm above 900rpm?

The handbook says down to 650rpm when idling so I don't think that's the problem. Perhaps it's the TPS that isn't working properly. Does anyone have a Haynes manual with the resistance values for the TPS. I live in Sweden and it'll take some time to get it.

Thanks a lot. I checked the TPS and adjusted it according to the Haynes manual. Now the car runs great.
