Why did you take it to the red line?

Not sure which "vvti" sensor they mean, might be the camshaft timing oil control valve or oil pressure switch?

Either way why do you want to know the price, the garage should be doing the repair FOC if you have literally just bought it.

Cannot say its a problem I have read about in the Corolla forum, though you could search this and the other forums as the engine may be used by other models.

As to a different car, only you can judge the garage / car and situation

To frostyballs, Why not?, just as well I did.

To old codger: Timing oil control valve was mentioned, guy said he probably cant afford to mend it and suggested choose alternative car/refund if repair expensive, esp as oil light came on.

Buyer & seller seem ideally suited :boxing:

It might be this valve thats the problem one, though cannot see it listed anywhere so it might be a Toyota only part and so expensive ...?

Do give my engine a thorough open up to the red line once a week and thankfully not had any warning lights.

Do wonder what kind of garage you are dealing with if they are not looking to repair it, though such sensor problems can be a thankless task as they do not always go as would seem apparent.

Its down to you and what you think of the rest of the car, is it worth the hassle / will they offer to repair it ?

They know what the part should be so get them to ring the local Toyota dealer and get a price, expect they should get some trade discount.. its not up to you to run about for them.

Anything else on their forcourt that looks good ?
