Rav Damage (2014 Car)

Hello everyone - if you have a minute can you please view the photos - I drove into a small bollard at a supermarket (it was to separate 2 carparks, one paid, one free :(

The repair guy says that 3 bumpers on the front will need replaced and the bracket for the fog - cost £900 (which I'll prob put through insurance, I have my NCB protected, just leaving £300 excess).

Advice please - do you think all 3 bumpers need replaced? There is only damage to the main one, though the others are out of position.

Cheers

George

I don't have any specific 4.4 experience but I would think that it might be worth checking out a Toyota dealer's view since accident damage that isn't repaired to Toyota's standards can invalidate the corrosion warranty. I realise that most of this damage is probably to plastics but if there is any metal bracketry involved, you need to be certain that it is re-proofed to Toyota's spec for the warranty.

Warranties are dangerous things insofar as an infringement in an instance like yours could jeopardise a claim for unrelated corrosion appearing elsewhere on the body in the future.

One thing to be aware of as regards putting the claim through your insurance, is having a protected NCB doesn't prevent your insurer increasing the premium at the next renewal. All that a protected or guaranteed NCB does, is to protect or guarantee the level of NCB you have. Whether or not your premium may be increased at the next renewal, you could probably check with your insurer when considering making a claim.

Also if you do put the claim through your insurance, why not get the damage repaired via a Toyota Approved body shop or a Toyota dealer's body shop? That way you know the repair has been carried out to Toyota standards and won't affect your warranty.

Mate this is a 20 min job.... Cost me £20 for similar thing on my Auris. You can fix your self, buy the heat machine from Argos £

(£25-£40), unscrew bumper screws, get a damp cloth, blow the heater machine on the inner bumper and slowly push out with the damp cloth. Where do you live, can give you my mechanics number, like I said, charged me £20. I have attached some pictures of before and after, on the pictures it doesent look that bad but it was realll bad, took pictures at different angles to hide the damage but if it was straight up it looks like yours. Damage is on the left bumper, I took pictures and tried to sell with that ding but when I found out it costs £20 to remove, I thought lets remove, easy

Thanks for the repairs

The centre will use official Toyota parts etc but my dealer doesn't do bodywork

I asked the centre about heating. Cost 400 as the bumper also has to be painted

Any views on whether the actual grey bumper is needed? It is out of position and the centre says it'll never be the same. Silver trim also broken across the bottom

Why not fix your self? Save £900.

Thanks all - better photos attached to view the full damage - does anyone know if the front area of the area is one large bumper or three smaller ones? The bodywork guy was very quick to point out the other ones can be put back into place (I know the silver trim at the bottom came off).
