Middle Exhaust Replacement - How Difficult?

Hi

My 2007 2.2d is due MOT end of May and will require a new middle section exhaust box. Toyota has priced at over £1400 for a full system (not sure if this includes the CAT). I have seen the KFZ system on eBay with the mounting kit for approx £90 delivered. Anyone fitted a new middle box? How hard to do? Can the job be done using ramps?

Cheers

Hi Norman

I have a similar problem to you, my T180 middle box is cracking around the seam and I don't fancy the Toyota part replacement due to the cost. I have done some research and found a part listing on the Bosel website but although its listed, it isn't in production!. My local garage has sourced a middle box for £161 + VAT ( I think that also includes the link pipe to the rear) which they will fit by cutting the link pipe between the cat and middle box. You could probably do the job with a set of ramps but its always going to be easier if you have the car fully in the air.

Like you I had a look at eBay and say the different boxes available but have decided to have a local supplier just in case there are problems.

Just had middle box replaced on our T180. Bought the box from eurocarparts http://www.eurocarparts.com/mobile/exhaust-parts

Was ordered in the morning and arrived in the afternoon. Didn't cost much to get it fitted either from a local garage they had to cut the old one off in the middle and replaced it with new part. Took less than an hour car is a lot quieter and the MPG is creeping up also. Our T180 is 56 plate so I'm assuming same part. By the way Eurocarparts gave me a 2 year warranty also

I went the route of the KFZ middle exhaust on eBay. Came from Germany in 3 days with all necessary fittings all for £89. Has 2 year warranty but as shipment is Germany probably not of any use to me. Hoping to upgrade to a newer RAV4 next year so not worried. Local garage fitted for £35. Car just passed it's MOT.

Just had mine fitted and the part came from A2A UK as sourced by my local motor factors.
