That's buying an avensis out the window then...why did they not just stick with the simple things? Thanks for replying.

they are all going that way - even the Mazda 6 is. It's lighter & takes less space - same reasons that full size & then spacesaver tyres started disappearing.

It's all about weight over economy. Anything that cuts weight gives a better mpg figure and that is king at the moment. All manufacturers are at it. I don't like the EPB but I'd rather that than no spare wheel even if it's only a spacesaver. There will be more and more going this way so to rule a car out for this one thing will mean you will miss out on all the advantages of a great value car.

Yeah but with a £1000 fix I'd rather have the handbrake and just drive eco.seems they all just want big money for fixes rather than save the motorists money on mpg?& taking away the spare wheel is a joke how can a tin of 'expanding foam' fix a blown out shredded tyre!

if you keep the car in warranty you will be covered for the epb (& whilst there have been actuator failures they are very rare) & lots of other stuff too.

you can keep the car in warranty for 10 years.

I thought the EBP issue has been sorted with a fix and modification.

There are other make cars using EBP that have had issues and have had modifications to stop common faults. My brother drives a Renault Grand Scenic which is known for EBP issues.

Still I like the feel of pulling a handbrake.

Yeah like a handbrake myself...I'm looking at a 2010 t2 2.0 d4d avensis and a 2010 tr 1.6 vmatic avensis.
