O2 Sensors And Abs Lights On: 2.0 Petrol 53 Plate Help Please

hi folks, trying to help a friend out. she's recently bought a 53 plate 2.0 petrol Rav 4 with 68k on the clock. she loves it BUT she's flapping as it's engine management light and abs light and handbrake lights are all on. (and cant afford garage rates!)

I connected my code reader and it's showing" P2238 02 sensor positive current control circuit low bank 1 sensor 1"... where is the sensor? how do I remove it and check it? and Where do I get a new one...anyone got a parts number please?

There were no codes coming up for the brakes but I've only a cheap generic obdii reader.

The fluid level looks ok for the brakes. Where do I check next please?

Thanks for the advice in advance

Hi

Check the drivers footwell for and signs of damp/water ingress. Water can sometimes navigate from the sunroof/windscreen,down the drivers window pillar and on to the connector blocks, behind the plastic plate in the drivers foot well. Its an easy fix (usually). Pull the plastic trim from inside door up into foot well, pull some of the plugs apart and inspect for moisture/oxidation of the terminal pins where water may have got in.

The plugs in this area also affect the oil, petrol, speedo,VSC,ABS, lambda, engine management light. They may come on at random, but this would be my first port of call before digging deeper.

Not to say the error code isn't genuine??.

cheers Jas, currently thrashing it down with rain but will give it a go as soon as things dry up. Thanks for the suggestions

Wee note. If it happens to be water related, the sunroof is an easy fix. The windscreen is a bit more involved but is repairable with the relevant window sealer after sliding the windscreen channel off the drivers side pillar.
