"Due to be released in Autumn 2016 in the USA"

Which reads as about March 2017 for the UK market. Wow! This is to replace a car body shape that was released in June 2009. Nearly 8 years? From a Japanese manufacturer?

I'd also ponder when the gen4 Prius is to be released. No news or pictures or even a sniff on any proper magazine anywhere in the World. What's going on?

Doesn't sound unreasonable. Most manufactures tend to do 6-8 year cycles with a face life part way though.

Although with Toyota's recent tendency to re-work existing models (Auris and Rav4) the life cycle of some look to be shorter - the (Dec) 2012 Auris having it's mid-life facelift announced in March giving a life cycle of possibly 5 years or less, and the (Nov) 2012 Rav4 being replaced in 2016 after around 3-3.5 years.
