Dashboard Lighting

I have just bought a 2009 Auris 1600 TR with low mileage.

I notice that when I switch on the lights the dash lights all dim. Fine at night but too dim during the day e.g. when using light in heavy rain. Is there a switch I haven't found yet? Can't find anything in the handbook.

Thanks

Presumably you have the analogue instruments. To the lower right of the speedometer, there is a button which is the odometer/trip meter display change button.

With the headlights on press and hold the button, and a series of up to five graduated bars will be displayed - continue pressing the button and the display will change in brightness ( the more bars, the brighter the display).

Should be around page 187 of your Owners Manual

Many thanks for that. Reset the trips about 5 times before I got it!!!! There may be another step involved, not just hold it down, might have been hold it down, release it then press again to adjust but I just fiddled till I found it!!! Will try again in the dark so I can read what is going on.

Your car will have the Optibright display Felix, same as the 09 Auris I used to have and I found the stepped dimmer control to be a PITA.

On its highest setting, the Optibright is great, giving you a bright display for daytime but that setting is too high for night driving. Trouble is even one step down - which makes the night time setting OK makes it too dull for daytime display. Depends on how much night time driving you do and hopefully the long summer days will let you leave it on full bright.
