2012 Sr 2.2 D-Cat Auto Mpg

Hi All,

I picked up my new car this week. When I collected it had 40K miles and showing 28MPG. I reset the mpg and drove 150 miles of 70% motorway (70-80mph) and 30% A-road (50-60mph). After the 150 miles it was showing 31MPG. Is this normal? I would have expected better with gentle motorway and a-road cruising.

Thanks.

Our previous RAV was exactly like yours. Initial average mpg was 31 MPG but this improved to 36 MPG after I fitted one of Kingo's Lindop chip kits. Torque and smoothness improved as well. The D-CAT auto is not known for its economy but this is more than compensated for by smoothness and reliability hence you don't face unexpected repair bills, unlike some makes I could mention.

However, it is important to do proper manual brim to brim consumption calcs and check these actuals to what the OBC tells you as the OBCs vary wildly in terms of accuracy. Ours was just about spot on (in fact it was slightly pessimistic) but the norm seems to be that they are optimistic to varying degrees.
