Dog Guard

I have a 53 plate Toyota Rav 4 with a one piece -full length dog guard. The way it fixes is by slotting through two holies in the ceiling and it hangs down. At the base there are two screws but I am having real trouble finding where these actually screw into? Have searched the internet to try and get some help and have searched videos but none for this old Rav. All help would be appreciated Thank you. Sarah.

Hi Sarah

I had exactly the same problem with my 05 plate rav 4 diesel . It fixes at the top with a bit of a fiddle but I too couldn't work out where to fix on the floor though the guy I bought it from said it was obvious. I have a rubber floor protector and a dog bed in the back so I put a length of Pope lagging along the bottom edge of the guard which works well to hold it in place and stop rattles ..

Thank you Peter...so if I understand you correctly, the screws screw into nothing but I should buy pipe lagging (black foamy looking stuff) and put the bottom of the dog guard to secure it in place?

Our 02-reg 4.2 5-dr had the usual roof rail fittings but at the bottom it had plastic toggles that clipped to two half moon steel rings in the boot florr, just behind the rear seats.

If your car has the rings in the floor then perhaps you can find a way to clip the bottom of the dog guard to them using a kabiner (from any of the outdoor/camping shops).

Hi Sarah .. Yes that is what I did as I couldn't see where to bolt it to . Did you buy the guard new or second hand ?

Thank you...the car was bought with the dog guard fixed. We took it out to move my daughter and all her belongings to uni and now she is back, I want to put it back . Both suggestions were really helpful. Thank you. Sarah
