Brake Pads

Hi,

This topic has probably been discussed a number of times before.

I have a t27 2009 avensis and need to change the front brake pads.

I can get original Toyota pads at a fair price or a set of ebc red for the same price.

What would be the better pad to fit or what would you recommend??

I currently cover 20000 miles a year.

Thanks in advance.

I would stick with the original Toyota pads, if there have been no problems with what you are using. You didn't mention the discs, but if they are original, then stay with Toyota. Others who have experience will know if the EBC pads are worth the change of brand.

I prefer to change the brake pads and discs of the same brand or good quality - I just swap from a rubbish brand.

Cannot go wrong with either. Just stay away from cheapo brands.

On my T25 I used Ferodo Premier as I wasn't happy with the brake feel & performance with the oem pads.

My T27, however, seems perfectly OK on the oem pads so I'll probably keep to those when they come to need changing.

Are pagid pads and discs acceptable?

Yeah don't see why not I settled for mintex as I have used these in the past.

are you looking for front, I believe you have a 1.8 your discs are 277mm diesels are 295mm

has anyone upgraded their front discs from 277mm to 295mm, research tells me they use the same pads (so calipers should be the same?) both discs would fit the hub as both of them are 5 x 100, I would have to look at the dust shield sizes.

I have used both Toyota pads (Bosch pads in a Toyota box) and Pagid pads and discs. I would say Pagid are OEM/Toyota standard.

In a straight choice between EBC and Toyota at the same price I would go for Toyota every time. No particular reason, just I would expect that Toyota/Bosch would be better quality.
