Rear Coil Springs, 1998 Rav4 (Auto)

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if any of you good people could help me please? I've ordered new rear coils springs for my 1998 RAV4 (auto) and would appreciate it if anyone had a step by step instruction of how I can change them myself at home. I have limited funds to take it to a garage and want to do it myself. I've searched online but had no luck in finding a step by step tutorial.

Any help will mean a lot

Thank you

Hello Clair and welcome to the TOC

Perhaps the above will help as it shows how to remove and replace a road spring and the spring compressors needed to safely do the job as both front and back need to be treated in the same way

On reflection I am not quite sure if the spring goes around the shocker on a mk 1

Hi

I did a rear spring on my Mk1 recently for MOT. If you jack up the vehicle and the drop the shocker this leaves enough room to remove the old and insert the new spring into the hanger. No compressor required.

I had to drop the shock from the inside but either inside or outside will do the same job.

Hope this helps
