Hi there,

I have just bought my 4th Carina - my last one did 226,000 before terminally failing its MOT!

My new one is a 1996 Carina E CD. It came with only one key (slightly bent but still works okay) and no number for it. Can anyone tell me how to go about getting a second one as I have read in a couple of strings that I will need to get it programmed to my alarm/immobiliser?

I would also like to get a couple of key fobs that will lock/unlock it. Where do I get these and how do I get them programmed for my alarm/immobiliser?

Many thanks!

Could try an auto locksmith.

Thanks for that. I just tried one and apparently they don't have any shops in my area and the mobile emergency van is quite expensive to come out. Just now trying Toyota themselves but was hoping for a cheaper alternative...

Just in case anyone else has the same problem: mobile auto locksmiths vary greatly in price. Toyota themselves wanted £90+ pounds; one auto locksmith wanted the same (£90+) to come out but would be half the price if I travelled to their distant shop that was only open Saturday mornings; another didn't do keys that old; another came out instantly and cut and programmed a new key for £40. So it's worth checking around!
