Alternator Prices - Vary So Much :-/

hi ,

think i may have issue with alternator,

any ideas as to why online prices for alternators vary so much, looking on eBay for new ones and they vary from 100£ - £500 are the cheaper ones pure junk??

Some companies provide "exchange" alternators, which are basically old units, spun up, repaired to the minimum standard and cleaned, nothing is replaced apart from what is needed to make it work again, as cheap as possible

A Toyota "exchange" unit (for instance) will be completely new inside, everything is replaced, they only use the outer casing (if suitable)
