I've got a 94 with 1.8.. I recently washed(too much u big dummy)under hood to clean for new valve cover gasket. After installing i went to crank. It started missing(of coubik)then it died. After that Had no fire. Started checking at plugs(no fire). Then Went to

distributor(wires ok)Pulled the cap and checked with light at + side of coil(solid light there except for a little starter surge while wife turned engine over...Then checked - side of coil( got blinking light while she turned over motor..Also put cap bac on and pull 2 wire plug apart(thats on top of distributor and performed this. http://www.howstuffinmycarworks.com/Ignition_coil.html .. When I got to the part about probing the second terminal I got no light
