hi raistlin

thx for reply, but its not of of these, its a tool like a socket and unscrews the top and then a paper filter is inserted into the actual filter.

example above for the 1cd-ftv engine, you need to measure diameter and then the flutes (flats) put that into info eBay and you should find the one you need

Um, I'm just wondering if anyone has had any luck using the old webbing strap and socket attachment type tool? You know the type, the old school ones that used to work on cartridge filters.

The 6th post shows my selection of oil filter tools.

The one you mentioned worked well for tight spaces, using an extension for reach. It was a bit awkward to use. The filter had to be clean so the band could grip. The tool next to it is far better. Got that from Machine Mart.

the one you showed is ok, but for my 1cd engine its a bit awkward as filter is on its side and is tight for space.

I have just bought one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-12-OIL-FILTER-ADJUSTABLE-WRENCH-PLIERS-HAND-REMOVAL-PLIER-TOOL-/381034510425?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item58b76d3859

not tested it yet but it should be able to help with the fuel filter I am currently using water pump pliers on it.

hello all.

finally i managed to change the oil filter on my 2008 2.0 4d4 avensis.

i used one of these and worked a treat, so in case anyone will need it. its a cap 65mm/67mm 14f(flutes)

and is something like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Laser-4990-Oil-Filter-Tool-Toyota-Yaris-65-67mm-x-14-Flutes-/320774780671?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4aafaab6ff

hope that helps.
