Key Fob Not Unlocking

Hello,

I have a 2006 Avensis 1.8 T3X. I've been having problems with my key fob. Every now and again I can't unlock the car with the key fob - I've tried both of them. The only way I can open the car when it stops working is to use the key in the driver's door. This sets the alarm off and often I can't turn it off again for a few minutes, even after starting the engine.

I have tried the resync sequence but the doors don't lock after I've pressed the button twice so I assume this means it hasn't worked. Is there anything else I should try?

Thanks for your help,

Gareth

Does this happen when the car is in the same location and is locking and unlocking affected?

Could be external interference blocking the signal - see http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/150767-both-key-remotes-have-stopped-working/?hl=%2Bkey+%2Bfob+%2Bnot+%2Bworking

Hi,

Its happened in a few different places. Is there anything else I can check? Can you turn the alarm off as it is staying on longer and getting more difficult to turn off?

if you lock the car mechanically (i.e. key) iirc the alarm isn't set.
