Burning Rubber Smell, White Smoke & Juddering

Hi,

I have Toyota Avensis T3-S D-4D November 2004

Car runs normal but after 10 minutes of driving it suddenly loses speed especially going up a high gradient. Then it starts to judder. Followed by a burning rubber smell & white smoke from the exhaust.

So I stop and shut the engine after around 5 minutes, I set off again until it happens again.

I took it to the mechanic without looking but just smelling the rubber, said its the clutch but they couldnt fix it due to their ramp being unavailable. So I had clutch replaced by another garage, but the next morning, lo and behold still the same issue.....

Please help.

ok start with getting the codes read, you can do it your self by buying a code reader of ebay/amazon. I have the d900 works fine with the avensis.

Eventful day yesterday. I took it back to the mechanic who fixed the clutch to get a better diagnosis. He said he FORGOT to tell me that the turbo was on its way out. Oil has leaked into the intercooler and the turbo pipes.

Quite frustrated, I left it and went straight to a car showroom and part exchanged it for a Honda Jazz. Couldn't afford the downtime of not having a car.

thanks for your help.
