Hi i have a Rav 4 2001 2lt petrol with intermittent starting problems, sometimes when starting if it does not fire with in 3 seconds it will take 10- 15 seconds before it will start once it is running it is fine.

Can anyone help ?.

Hi Ian and welcome to the club.

This could be caused by fuel running back to the tank if it happens when the motor has been standing awhile before starting

There is a non return valve in the fuel pump in the tank to stop this happening, but this may have eroded away.

An inline valve fitted to the fuel line under the bonnet would help this and would be a simple cure.
