Aircon Not So Cool

60 reg 1.33 petrol. Had aircon service by Toyota dealer last summer. Worked well afterwards. Had it on this last hot Sunday & it's not that effective. Have used it a bit in the winter for defrosting.

Should it need another service so soon?

Unless you've used the air con regularly throughout the year, then yes, it may need servicing. We use our air con at least once a week throughout the year, and this keeps the seals lubricated. In winter we use it in combination with heat to demist and/or to warm the interior quickly.

I would have expected it to last longer than that even if not used that often so might be worth getting it checked for leaks or cracked seals.

My dad used to only ever use his once or twice in the summer for years, and the first time he had is re-gassed made a big difference, but like yours it didn't last very long. I took it to a Kwik Fit and they did that fluorescent gas leak check thing and it turned out some of the seals had dried out and cracked and there was a small hole in one of the pipes!
