Knocking Noise T Sport

Hi,

Was coming back from Hunstanton to Leicester today and my T - Sport has started making a knocking/rattly noise either way round corners, the sharper the more predominant. Any ideas?

Also, I have a dealerwarrantydirect gold 3 month warranty on my car which the dealer provided for me to go to a garage in my area as I travelled a long way to buy it. Anyone know how these work?

If it's engine speed dependant, it's engine related. If it's road speed dependent, it's wheel/driveshaft related.

KNocking or clicking going round corners is generally either Wheel bearings or CV joints. Both are no big deal to fix... however warrantys may class them as 'wear and tear' items and not cover them.

Both CV Joints and Bearings are covered in my T&C's so should be fine.

I'm just waiting for Listers Toyota, Nuneaton, to get back to me on there p/h labour rate because it cannot exceed £60 in warranty.

I took my car into a local garage on Monday, and repairs were started Tuesday.

They found it was the front two wheel bearings going, with a bolt on the drive shaft needing to be replaced. Also, they noticed a gear box oil leak, so a seal needed replacing.

The warranty approved of this, so fair enough.

Today, the garage were supposed to have finished the work, but have rang me up stating they have snapped one of the abs sensor bolts on the wheel hub when removing. So they need to contact my warranty about trying to claim this back on them, as they had to get an engineer to drill it out.

I don't have a good feeling about this now. The repair bill before this was nearly £500, which I pay myself and then send the invoice to my warranty in receipt of a cheque in the post.

Surely if they have broken this, they pay themselves?

Any opinions?

Part and parcel of the repairs, they broke it, they fix it.

It's not an expensive part, anyway. Hope your warranty makes good!

Yes, warranty seems OK, but neither garage or warranty are holding responsibility for paying for the broken bolt and labour.

So unfortunately I have to pay, due to it not being there fault as if it was seized up, it was going to snap on any mechanic regardless.

Next thing is brake pads and discs all round, and lowering springs.

I won't be going there again though, with a rough quote of £250 to fit the lowering springs, if I remember correctly.
