Toyota/avensis Sat Nav On Last Legs.....

Hi all,

This isn't specifically a problem for an Avensis But for Toyotas in general.

I have an 07 reg Avensis and it's sat nav uses a DVD that has been spinning constantly for the last 8 years.

This is having a bad effect on the drive module (as DVD runs in it 24/7).

The DVD itself is obviously out of date but still ok for most roads.

Today I removed the sat nav and took it apart to see if it was a standard DVD-DL drive in it. However when I opened it up it turned out to be a 45 pin flat cable connecting it to the main circuit of the Sat nav.

Has anyone either replaced the DVD module in this sat nav or replace the whole head unit for an aftermarket one and can you offer any advice on this thank you.
