I've recently got myself a 2003 T sport with 25,000 miles from an OAP who had it from new. It has clutch judder when getting to bite point and the car acts like it will stall unless more power is used.

It happens cold or hot. If giving it some gas then the judder is greatly reduced and no real issues.

Has no issues going in to any gear, no crunching and no slipping.

I'm thinking over its 13 year life the lady has been riding the clutch and this could have caused it to glaze?

I would be grateful to hear of anyone else had had similar issues? And what the cause was?

Clutches are known to be 'weak' on these, and as you say if the car has had limited use on short journeys the clutch could well be toast.

Replacements are about £140 for an Exedy, or I've seen standard ones for £90. Then it's just the fitting.

Thanks Joe. I've used Exedy before and can't fault them.

Wow!!!

2003 model with 25000 miles. Suspect clutch is toast as stated. Worth doing the replacement as you have practically a brand new car then!!!

The Engine and box are tight like new really. It's the clutch that seems the issue along with corroded brakes. The old dear had started to catch both rear quarters on her way in and out of the drive and decided to sell.

I've got some mtec discs on the way with mintex pads. On the lookout for a decent suspension kit.

Worth giving the complete braking system an overhaul....new pipes where needed, new pads and disks all round, new fluid. Suspect it will have never been touched since day one.

Disks have arrived along with pads and just waiting on braided hoses and some 5.1 fluid. Have used a great site Oponeo online for new tyres. Free delivery to UK and seem to well undercut any of the usual kwikfit/national tyre type places. I've used them twice now and highly recommend them for anyone who does not mind getting a local place to fit them. £10 a wheel near me. Obviously I've got no connection to them, just thought i would give them a mention.
