The Toyota.co.uk Website Is Rubbish

The toyota.co.uk website is rubbish, it is not informative, the presentation is amateurish, it is more concerned with visuals than providing information, and takes too long to load. I requested a brochure, was not asked for my address, and after 2 hrs have not received a reply via email, and a link to an ebrochure does not seem to be available :(

Strangely, I later found an ebrochure for the US Corolla which was very informative:-

Toyota Owners Club has no affiliation to Toyota, and although Toyota may view the forums, they won't engage with members using the forums.

The US version of the Corolla is quite different to anything available in the UK - the European version of the Corolla (saloon built in Turkey) isn't sold in the UK due to the lack of demand for saloons.

With the Toyota GB site, one has the choice of a brochure by e-mail, download or post. If one chooses the download, one has to click on the 'View brochure' or the Stay updated and view' button towards the bottom of the page to physically download the information - see https://www.toyota.co.uk/index.json#/iframe/https%3A%2F%2Fforms.toyota.co.uk%2Fbrochure

One can also download a selection of previous model brochures - https://www.toyota.co.uk/caring-for-your-toyota/owners/vehicle-information.json

If one has feedback on the Toyota GB website, one can use the contact page - https://www.toyota.co.uk/caring-for-your-toyota/owners/vehicle-information.json#/iframe/http%3A%2F%2Fforms.toyota.co.uk%2Fcontact-us

Has the download gone into your download folder?

No, it has not, still no email either.

BTW interestingly, I tried to look at the Subaru BRZ on their website and that is as simillarly bad as the Toyota website, indicating it was designed by the same person/team!

The point about mentioning the http://www.toyota.com/corolla/ebrochure/ in my original post was that, if you scroll down to the bottom that link gives the sort of information that I was interested in. Obtaining that type of info is like getting blood out of a stone, why can't they just publish it without wanting to contact me! Subaru is the same.

Not being able to find information about their cars, does not encourage me to buy one and almost puts me off buying another.

Edit:

However, just received a Subaru pdf via email, although it is not quite as informative as the http://www.toyota.com/corolla/ebrochure/

Although Toyota own 16% of Subaru the car manufacturer, Subaru still operates as a separate company.

The UK importer of Subaru is IM Group (formerly International Motors) based by the NEC, Birmingham, who also import Isuzu and Great Wall, and who formerly imported Daihatsu up to 2013. Separate to Toyota GB, which is wholly owned by Toyota, so the likelihood of the same people designing the websites is slim

if on the brochure page you select "download", the brochure(s) that you want & then scroll down to "view the brochure", click on that. seems to be working OK atm for the Auris (nearest to Corolla for Europe).

If you want to download that, you can - no need for contact details.

Ah, it's working now, as this time I got a catherine wheel adjacent to the submit button, and immediately got an email link to an html, this gave me a pdf which I was then able to save as. However, I did have to give my email and name for the GT86. Thanks all.

well, if you opt for download rather than email you can get a GT86 brochure without giving details ...

For me there is NO option to download, only the option to "Order a brochure" see:-

Where are you looking?

On the front page of toyota.co.uk on the right hand side there is a bar of icons, 4th 1 down is a book (should also bring up "order a brochure" pop-up when you mouse over it). Click on that & it takes you to a page of pictures of vehicle model with check boxes & at the top Order a Brochure, below that By Email, Download or By Post.

I am using a computer, and I cannot see any icons on the homepage!

Thanks for the Blanco, but it looks a bit too boy racer-ish, I know that there is a rally car for about £70,000 too.

The first link I gave at post 2 should take you through to a page that, across the top, gives the option of selecting abrochure by e-mail, download or by post.

Does on each of our desktop/laptops.

A lot of this may be down to your browser, settings or plug-ins, or all three.

A lot of these commercial sites use clever stuff to give a dramatic presentation, but sadly they forget that this severely limits the systems it will work properly with. The best sites will have a button to allow 'text only' operation for people who have these problems, but as that can be seen as a sort of admission of failure very few do it.

Life as usual on t'internet

BTW I use Safari.

That link goes to a page that immediately is redirected and this is the screenshot:-

It is Safari that's causing the issue then.

Just tried the link using Internet Explorer, Chrome and Opera (usual browser), and all three take me through to a brochure request page that gives three options for getting a brochure.

Thanks. I am not as technically initiated as you, but I have never had this problem before, my mac is OS X 10.8.5, it is 2 years old and I am using Safari 6.2.6. I have checked my System Preferences and cannot see anything obvious. In Safari to save power, I have restricted the allowed internet plug-ins to 9 that I have listed, and denied "Limit website access to location services", but I cannot see how these are affecting the Toyota website.

And, there is no download button shown on my mac, as there is in your second image, only email or post!

It is as I posted here:-

I have had a mac laptop for about 10 years, downloaded quit a lot of different files and never had this problem before. It is just a compatibility problem between the html that Toyota use and Safari?
