Hey all,

After 9 years with my 2001 Avensis VVT-i, we have finally had to say our goodbyes and today have a 2011 2.2L Avensis T4 Nav. Slightly sad to leave the history behind but I'm looking forward to as many years happy motoring with this car.

Bring on the road ahead :)

Thanks.

I've always been impressed with Toyota for their build quality and reliability but this car has surpassed my expectations already. It is really in another league from my previous model but I suppose that's what a decade of innovation and development will produce.

Graham,

Is there any information you can share with us regarding the presence, or lack, of a USB connector for feeding audio from an external

device into the sound system?

If it has one it will be inside the centre console under the arm rest

indeed, my T Spirit has 1 - it's on the inside, forward wall of the centre console.

Thanks Lee and Scott.

My own 2012 Avensis also has a USB interface n the centre console, but in another thread, an owner with the same year and model that Graham now has (2011 T4 Nav) reported no sign of it (only has a 3.5mm jack socket), although a USB interface was apparently provided in some earlier models.

Lee the wording of your comment "if it has one" suggests that some 2011 T4 Nav vehicles might have the USB interface, others might not ... or were you just generalising across the whole Avensis range?

My Avensis has the 3.5mm jack as the auxiliary port. I would imagine this is because my car was registered in the March.

While looking at various vehicles' spec prior to settling on this one, I had noticed that Parkers.co.uk show two listings for the Avensis Tourer T4 Nav. indicating that in November 2011 Toyota made some changes. The main numbers such as emissions, BHP etc... are the same but this is likely when the Aux port was changed to accommodate USB.

Personally, I don't find this to be an issue. I have a 12v to twin USB adaptor in the centre console to power my phone (or device) and can stream the audio through BT or use a 3.5mm male to male lead.

that would be the facelift although they were not delivered in November but were in production by then - mine is one of the first, registered 3rd January 2012.

Those manufacturing dates make it clearer - it seems to me that the 2012 models (actual production started in late 2011) had the Satnav/Multimedia unit changed to the "Touch and Go" unit as in my car and presumably in Scott's too, with the USB connectivity in the console.
