Hey, guys. :)

I recently swapped a 1zz along with its 6-speed from a 2000+ Celica in my 2001 Corolla hatchback, because my 3zz blew a piston.

Mechanically, everything is ok, more or less, however when I try to start it with the 3zz ecu (having read it's self learning enough to run a 1zz), the fuel pump doesn't run, there is no spark, ergo it won't start.

Does anyone know the issue, or has an idea what could be a problem?

Thanks in advance. :)

Think you need the ecu from the celica mate as it's designed to handle the engine

i did this conversion on my 4zzfe e11, and had exactly the same problem so baring in mind both me and my dad are qualified mechanics we were slightly baffled, but as not many people have done the actual swap complete most people often choose to just rebuild their old engine with 1zzfe parts, but back on to your starting issue you need to remove the timing case on both your old engine and the 1zzfe and on the end of the crank you will find a metal plate with teeth this is what works the crank sensor the 1zzfe will have an f on it and the 3zzfe will have a b on it switch the one from your original engine on to your new engine and rebuild the timing case and bobs your uncle she will fire hope this helps

We have made a complete swap from 3zz and to 1zz by buying a complete 1zz engine and it started well thought the idling is at 2000 as we haven't driven it.
