okay, so none of these are particularly important, but if anyone has any idea how to possibly fix them, do speak up...

I noticed the other day that the fan on my car doesnt work on the 1st two settings, only on 3 and 4??

the 2nd windscreen wiper setting (where it's contantly wiping, but slowly) is dodgy. you have to mess with the position of the stalk to get it to work, and then sometimes if you turn it off, the wipers stop in the middle of the screen, and you have to mess with the stalk again, so they're not in the way.

also, the rear screenwasher doesn't work. it could be blocked (i dont know, as you have to take the tailgate spoiler off to get at it, and i dont have hex type screwdrivers), but when you press it, the front ones come on as well/instead which is a bit odd

any ideas?...

Alrite mate! I have had all of these faults with my Corolla's and this is what i found:

The fault with the fan will be the 'Reo-stat'(think thats how its spelt!) which is located behind the glove box and bolted into the heater box with a electrical connector comin out of it! If you remove it you will find the filament burnt out! Very common fault to every 80's-90's Toyota! Its only about £15 and still avalible new from Toyota!

The problem you explain about the wipers is the stalk switch due to i had the same problem! I found a second hand one at a breakers and havnt had any problems since!

The fault with wipers is either a blocked jet or pipe! Now i no the jet is awkward to get to so before you try and unblock it, open the bonnet and you'll see a little gold unit with the washer pipes going into it mounted to the bulkhead on your lefthand side!(Behind strut tower!) Clamp off the pipe going to your front jets with your fingers is adequet, and get some one to operate your rear jet and it sometimes has enough power to push out any dirt etc!

Hope this helps!

ill have a bash at sorting them out sometime next week

i tried the thing with the washer jet pipe, but it didn't work. it must be blocked at the jet end, as i opersted it, and squoze the rear washer pipe, and water was getting through there. it'll have to stay that way though, as im not taking the spoiler off just for that :D

Im gonna be going to toyota soon, for some other parts, so ill order one of those rheo - stats as well. i might try and find a second hand wiper stalk switch as well, as that's quite annoying. do you have to take the steering wheel off to take it off? (mine's not on straight anyway). if so, is that difficult, or fiddley?

Bad luck! If you have access to a airline you can blow that down the pipe and unblock the jet that way! Save you taking the spoiler off!

You havnt got to take the steering wheel off, all you got to do is remove the steering column cowling which is held on with a few screws and you will then have access to remove the stalk, think that is held on with a couple of screws!

If you find a scrap corolla to take the stalk off i advise to to take the relay for the wipers aswell cuz they are prone to failing!
