Which Model Is Best?

Hi everyone,

I was looking at getting an Aygo as a first car as the insurance and tax is incredibly cheap and with it being small I hopefully wont crash aha!

I've been reading all the review websites on them, and the different models,

But id like owner opinions.

which model is the best in your opinion?

What are the aygo draw backs?

Does anyone have issues with the boot space? ( I ride horses so have a lot of stuff that would need to fit in the car?

Have you experienced any issues with the car?

What should I look for one buying one?

Which model year is best to buy?

Also I don't like the fact you have no glove compartment lid (other than on the odd blue one) is it easy to install them? :)

Hopefully you can give me some useful information to help pick the right one.

Hello Sophie - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

People have different likes, wants and needs - what may be the best suit for one person, may not be the best match for another.

Take the views of owners into account, but decide for yourself what features and wants you would like. For example - do you want air conditioning, do you want the full compliment of airbags, three doors or five, the wider doors of a three door can pose problems with tight parking spaces or garages, do you often carry more than one passenger (the five door would be easier in this instance), etc.

From memory Wiz201 has something to do with horses, so hopefully she may be able to help you with the horse queries.

Thankyou I think 5 doors would be easier as ill have a lot of stuff to put in it haha; air con would be a plus but not a necessity:)

Air bags I'm not sure... Maybe the more would be better? :)

You did not mention if you were looking for the new model Aygo or an used one (older model). If you are looking for the new model then I have no experience and some body else can advise you better. But if you are looking for a used older model than I would advise you to stick to the older model with make year 2010 or after because they changed to a better, new water pump and a new clutch. By the way don't forget to look at Volkswagen UP or Skoda Citygo which are similar to Aygo and in many respects better. They have better luggage space compared to Aygo and you probably need that with your horse riding interest.

OK, then you should definitely think of Aygo built during or after 2010. OR why not test drive VW UP, skoda citigo, Hyundai i10 and Suzuki Celerio? Autocar magazine has just done a very good review of the Suzuki Celerio (after they fixed the break problem, that they had earlier). You might even get a new Celerio for that price, almost!

Hi Finefilly, I have one of the last brand new mk 1 model Aygos (white one in profile piccie). Mine is the top spec move with style, and I got a lot of kit including a tom tom sat nav which I can just pop up and use in two seconds.

I've got horsy things, although I've never stored tack it would probably go on the back seat. Tinted windows in the move with style model can help with this if you have to take tack home with you from the stables as it makes it more secure to leave in the car overnight. I can store my long boots and lots of stuff in the boot though.

I love my Mrs Norris, she's excellent for petrol. I'm paying £10 less than I used to with my Yaris and she lasts just as long. On a full tank she can do over 315 miles before filling up.

She's much easier to park too and I can squeeze her into narrow spots.

that's fabulous, I mean its useually boots, a bag of tack grooming kit, hat and saddle id ever take up, providing that would fit in the boot (without the saddle) I'd be happy, fuel wise it sounds brilliant and its very low on insurance, one of the cheapest ive found and good on tax. I do prefer the little cars to park, at the moment im driving a 14 plate corsa and forget its bigger than the fiat 500, and I can control and dodge sticky situations better then in the corsa!

I do like the up, our neighbour has one, however ive been researching different car types and the up seems a little over budget.

I'll look into the other models thankyou :)
