What are the vertical and horizontal measurements for the hatch opening on the Auris Hatchback?

We are getting this car as the Scion iM in the US and want to know if this will work for me .

Thanks!

Hi Sean, physical measurements of mine are

Height: 28"

Width 41" at the widest, 39" where the trim supports for the parcel shelf (see pic)

Diagonal 43"

It's difficult to be totally precise because you have an opening with a rubber seal and various sloping bits of trim. The measurements I have given are taken from a practical point of view with regards to what size of load you can carry. Hope this helps.:

Thanks! That helps a great deal. It was impossible to find that on the internet.

I am very happy with those dimensions.

Can't wait until September to see the iM in person!

Just thought of another question.....what is the floor width between the wheel housings?

Thanks!

OK Sean,

Distance between the wheel housings at floor level is just over 39" but the seat support brackets (red arrows) reduce this to about 37 and1/2"

With the back door closed and the seat backs folded down it's about 62" from the inside of the back door trim to the driver/pax seat backs. Probably be able to get a bit more than that if you push the seats all the way forward, I'm talking mid-position. The seat backs don't fold completely flat but pretty close and there's about 28" to the headlining when they're down.

So you should be able to get a couple of decent size pitbulls in there with enough clearance for them but I'd recommend that you check out Sears or PepBoys for Kevlar seat covers. Seats are comfy enough but covers are a bit flimsy so if you leave the dogs in the back while you're browsing the latest iPods in Walmart you might find the seat backs reduced to about waist level by the time you get back. Ditto application for feline scratching posts.

Thanks for all the measurements. Those brackets seem to be absent from the iM, so that is good.

You wouldn't by any chance have a picture of the front passenger seat fully reclined?

Really appreciate all the info, Tom!

Hey Sean, I was sure you were you were winding me up. You had me back me in and out in the rain today taking measurements, I heard summer falls on a Saturday this year in Scotland - i'm still waiting for it to come round.

Nope, don't have pic of seat fully reclined, sorry bud.
