Corolla Gearbox Help

Hi. Im new here. Please forgive me for parachuting in just because I have a problem. I have a Toyota Corolla 1.4 D4D colour collection on a 56 plate. The gearbox is trashed. I had the bearings replaced at 80k miles but this problem is different. The box has now done 125k miles. I reckon the gearbox oil has bled away and something nipped up and let go. The AA recovered the vehicle and it is now in the garden SORN.

I'm looking to buy a second hand gearbox and it needs to be cheap but they seam rare. Does anyone on the forum know if I can use the gearbox from a Yaris 1.4 D4D? There are a few on eBay with the same engine number which is 1ND TV. Do gearboxes have an identification number?

No the Yaris and Corolla do not share the same transmission the Corolla uses a C53 type transmission the Yaris uses a C153

The Corolla box is only used by the Corolla and is not shared with any other model

Try one of thoses find a part sites.

There are plenty over here being broken, only issue would be the price of shipping.

Devon Aygo, can you tell me what the difference is between the C53 and C153? Do they share any common parts I wonder.

Also do you know if any of the corolla gearboxes are interchangeable? ie 1.4 D4D and 2.0 D4D? Even if the bellhousings need to be swapped. Thanks in advance for your help.
