But you know you really want the "ludicrous" expansion Battery - £10k extra to get 0-60 in 2.8s

Make "eco/normal/power" modes look a bit drab

D'ya know what?

When I had a first generation "Classic" Prius (which had only 1 mode - no EV/ECO/PWR buttons) I hardly ever floored the accelerator in over 160,000 miles, but never felt it wouldn't shift when I wanted it to.

The Gen 2 had a bit more power, the Gen 3 a bit more still, and I still drive almost exclusively in ECO and hardly ever floor it.

When the Gen 1 came out, I was surprised there wasn't ,more of a performance penalty for the good fuel consumption and emissions. I'd have happily bought one even if there had been. I don't think the Gen 3 Hybrids are as far ahead of the pack now as the Gen 1 was in 1997 (or 2000 for UK launch). Let's hope the Gen 4 ups the game a bit more than the last 2.

It's not clear if £40k zero emissions are free or not

Given the part about £350 for the first 5 years, I guess not.

Must be too many cars out there that are paying around £160/year or less for this to rake in more money for the Treasury, unless it is a stealth tax cut...
