Satnav/cd System Help Please

HI, I am buying an XT5 (2008 model) and the seller told me that although I can use it for hands free phone use, the bluetooth won't pick up the music I have on my iPhone. Is there any way round this?

The only thing I can think of, is that it might play a cd of MP3 tracks if I can copy my itunes music library into that format and burn them to a disk? Any advice would be most welcome. What do you guys do or are you limited to just listening to the radio?

Does the XT5 play mp3 files on a cd?

I previously had an SR180 (2008 model, 2009 registered) and suspect that will have had the same audio as the XT5 you refer to. I used to burn mp3 CDs and play those - that worked well. Sadly it didn't have a USB input for audio and, as you suggest, the bluetooth connection worked well for hands-free phone but not music streaming.

Many thanks, I am hoping this will be enable me to still listen to my music!

Is it possible to listen to a CD whilst using the sat nav? I noticed the sat nav folded away to reveal the slot for the CD, but as it was only a test drive I couldn't put a CD in and try to get the sat nav screen back in use. Is this possible, to load and play a CD then open up the sat nav again whilst the music plays?

Yes indeed. The opening mechanism seems excessively 'cute' but that's the way it works. The satnav screen acts as a rather large door to the CD unit but you simply open it up, pop in a CD, close it again, set the CD to play and switch back to satnav. And an mp3 CD can contain enough music to last for hours so you don't need to switch too often even on a very long drive.

Enjoy!

Thanks Philip! That sounds excellent. Can't wait to get the car now.
