Central Locking Issue

Hi

I have a central locking issue and am hoping someone could advise me how to fix it

Car is a 2008 Avensis 2.0 D4D TR. I am very pleased with it. When I have the rear passenger door open (putting my son in his car seat), keys in my pocket, the central locking automatically locks all doors. I am worried about my wife locking the keys (and our son) in the car if she leaves the keys in the car and doesn't realise that the car has locked before she closes the rear passenger door

Thank You

John

I'm pretty sure the central locking re-locks the car if a door or the boot hasn't been opened within a minute or so. Does the interior light or the door open warning light come on when you open the rear door, ie is the door switch faulty?

I'm not familiar with your particular car but if the switches are like most others then it should be a simple electric contact. Try taking the switch off and clean it up with wire wool or something.

it shouldn't lock if a door or boot is open. well mine doesn't anyway
