Avensis 1ad-ftv Lazy Oil Pump

Hi All,

My 2006 Avensis having covered 199556 miles so far has been getting a little lazy about giving me oil pressure in the mornings. I've run a BG Oil Flush through it which may have given some minor improvement, but that could be wishful thinking.

The engine is in otherwise very good order, and I only use decent fully synthetic oil, usually Castrol.

So I think the oil pump is getting worn, does anyone have experience or knowledge of replacing it on a 1AD-FTV?

Regards

Ian

Thanks for your response, I thought it may be after looking at an image of the pump. It looks like the timing chain has to come off to fit it, which would make it a big job as you said. I think I'll drive it and live with the issue, it's not so bad really, I'm just a bit obsessive about maintenance.

only other thing it can be is the oil strainer in the sump.

but don't drive with it like that, you will probably do more damage than good.

are you using the right grade of oil ?

Thanks for your response, I'm using the correct oil and I used BG engine flush last time I changed it. I hoped that would have removed any deposits, but you may be right and manual intervention may be needed.

Been away on holiday on the bike, so just getting back to this issue. I've obtained what I think is the correct sealant, being Loctite black specifically for oil contact. I've not taken a look under yet, but thought I'd ask has anyone done one already, anything to watch out for, does the pan drop straight off after you remove the bolts? Are there any seals to replace?

Hi,

I know it's bit late, but just in case someone would be looking  advice here.

So oil pump on 1AD-FTV is big big job, but not engine out and no need to touch chain either.

Just need to take rocker cover of, vacuum and water pump, another pulley, crankshaft pulley, mounting, fan belt, tensioner, AC compressor, sump, oil filter, 1 screw from alternator and then whole chain cover. Pump is part of that cover.

Good luck
