Considering buying one of these models, i do prefer petrol but

i do a lot of driving but at the same time im thinking diesel yes you save a lot on fuel but drawbacks repairs been more expensive, one of the TOyota dealers said to me that the Start stop that is bulit into the Diesel can be quite Annoying?

Has anybody any views on these models and what the reviews are

Presumably you live outside of the UK, and are looking at the Corolla saloon. In the UK, we haven't had the Corolla imported since 2007, due to saloons being far less popular than hatchbacks. Although the hatchback Auris is similar, the Corolla is a larger car (wheelbase the same size as the Avensis), so impressions of the Auris may not be truly representative.

Both engines are very reliable so the repair cost is probably something not worth worrying about too much.

Servicing costs are also similar; Diesels don't need spark plugs so that's a saving,

I think the diesel would be nicer to drive as the Corolla is fairly heavy, but you'd have to test drive both for yourself to see.

Start-Stop is quite annoying and IMHO is a stupid thing to have on a diesel; Petrol yes, but not on a diesel! I think it can be disabled tho' but check!
