Rear Lights - Approaching Mot

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I've only just discovered this site - it's great! I haven't quite been able to find an answer to my question, so I'm hoping someone could help...?

I have a black Aygo 2007 and, stupid me, thought it had two reverse lights rather than one... Took it to Halfords and asked the lady to replace the reverse light on the driver's side. Lo and behold, the bulb went cloudy when I fired her up (I'm guessing this was because it was the wrong bulb for the socket)? Since then, all of my lights at the rear on the driver's side do not work.

I got an auto electrician to come out to the house, and he confirmed that there was no current going to the lights. As far as I am aware they all worked fine before I stupidly made this error, is it possible that I have blown a fuse?

I have my MOT next Thursday and I'd ideally like to get it sorted before then!

Any help would be appreciated.

(I know nothing about cars)

So did Halfords fit the bulb for you? If so and it was the wrong one they fitted its up to them to repair it for you. I assume you have checked the relavent fuses as it's possible one or more could have blown. Is it just that light not working or have all the bulbs stopped working on that light like your stop lamp and indicator for example.

are the contacts on the rear light clusters corroded as this maybe the reason why no power would register on his meter,

this could be related to the leaky rear light syndrome, changing one bulb would not make you lose power at the other

lights, maybe check the earths associated to this light
