Tempted By 2015 Auris Hybrid Full Spec

Hi All

I'm currently driving my 2010 Auris Hybrid T-Spirit which is coming up to 5 years old. I bought it from new and have loved every minute of driving it. The small niggles of smaller boot space and noisy CVT at high revs has never bothered me, and I found the smooth hybrid acceleration and the ability to park up with the stereo and aircon on but engine off without worrying about the Battery, a neat use of the hybrid charge.

It still feels fairly new to me, except for a bit of interior rattling sometimes, but honestly I think most of that is all the crap I keep in the glove box and armrest storage. One thing that has bothered me is the lack of bicycle carrying options for the rear of the car.

It's also about time to give up on the 13 year old Honda Jazz my wife does the school run in, so instead of replacing that, it makes sense to me to get a new car for me (I do around 400 miles a week) and pass my 2010 Auris down to the wife.

So I've been doing the usual window shopping, looking at other makes and models (Lexus CT200h, BMW 320d, Audi A3, Mazda, Hyundai, Volvo etc) but once you add on the options I want they get too expensive. The Excel model I've put together already comes to £27,554. You can see the spec here: https://www.toyota.co.uk/carconfig/print/1GjFHPp . I'd get £750 off for taking the 0% PCP option and hopefully can bend their arm for the £900 click fit rear bicycle kit to be thrown in.

That spec would have a good deal of upgrades from my current model, like the skyview, auto-parking, auto beams, low speed collision avoidance, heated seats, auto-folding mirrors, tyre pressure warning, better boot layout, better interior, full leather seats. Basically it has everything I could possibly want bar adaptive cruise control (why they don't add that with the front radar package I don't know).

So what do people here think of that spec? I know it's at the high end of what's available, but I can spoil myself a bit. Or is there something else that people would recommend over it? I do value reliability over everything else.

Cheers

Rob

Got mine just yesterday but have to say I love every second spent in the car! It puts a huge smile on my face and trust me when I say - there is no better car in the class for the price of the 2015 Auris Facelift HSD.

My pre-facelift TS Auris HSD Icon+ cost £17k. £27k does seem pretty steep!

For bike carrying, I use a Thule Roof Rack with Thule cycle carriers. About £300 all in with 4 carriers:

Hi Darren

Are the silver side roof bars part of the Thule kit or were they added by Toyota? That's an interesting option, especially for more than 2 bikes. Doesn't work with the glass roof though, so would have to forgo that.

Roof rails are standard on the touring sports.

Why wouldn't it work with the glass roof?

Ah right, the hatchback. Have you considered the touring sports? You can have the glass roof and Roof Rack then.
