Key Fob Issue

Hi,

I have a Toyota Celica Gen 7 (2000)
The key works in the door lock fine, but the 2 button fob doesnt work. I replaced the Battery and it worked for one unlock, but now the remote locking doesn't work at all, even the red LED doesn't work.

Can I simply buy a replacement second hand 2 button key fob with transponder online, put my key into the casing and then follow the celica gen 7 re-programming steps? (open door close door etc. etc.)
