I have an issue and its is almost like say I'm sat at motorway speeds at
a constant speed and take my foot off the gas and reapply (not gently
or hard) I get a audiable and felt thud like there is some play in the
gearbox or driveshafts/CV joints.

Or could it be a sign of DMF wear?
Only way is to apply gas very gently to overcome this.
What are your cars like regarding this. Mine has done 86000 miles.

I would look at inner cv joints (the ones closest to the box)

regarding flywheel- do you get any metallic noise on idle and does it change tone when you dip the clutch.

DMF - no noises other than diesel engine i can detect and generally has good feel although the biting point is very low and pedal is rock hard.

The only time is hear any noises is when i select too high gear for the speed and you get a pulse and a clank.

I have heard reports (forum posts) of hard clutch pedals on other Toyota D4D's

If I keep the revs at 2000rpm in neutral and depress the clutch the revs drop to 1500rpm and then release they climb back to 2000rpm

Assume that is normal though I appreciate there will be some wear in the unit.

The clutch isnt slipping yet even under full accelaration.

I will ask them to check the inner joints as and when the DMF needs replacing, thanks.

Hi again. What engine do you have is it the 1cd ftv if it is....normally a hard heavy pedal would indicate the pressure plate needs changing. But this can last for a while.

Thanks, It is the 1CD-FTV 115bhp one, is the pressure plate part of a clutch change kit?

Yes it its also called the clutch cover, this video may be helpful
